Background

In the age of five he started playing violin and received 1983–1993 basic musical education at the Conservatory „G. F. Händel" in Halle/S., 1993–1996 he studied at the former Music High School in Halle/S. 1996–2000 he studied violin at the University of Music "Franz Liszt" in Weimar. 1984–2000 he played in several youth orchestras across Germany mainly as concert master of both violin groups including concert tours in several European countries (e.g. Denmark, Poland, Czech Republic, Irland, Austria). The concert with the Saxonia-Anhalt Youth Symphony Orchestra in the Golden Hall of the Vienna Musikverein was released 1997 as live-CD. He is founding member of Saxonia-Anhalt Youth Symphony Orchestra (1992) and young chamber ensemble "Paul Hindemith" (1998).

He has played violin in Hans-Gunter Lock's first performance of „Mu kivisid sõnad/My stony words“ (2002) at EAMT Sügisfestival/Autumn festival and in Hans-Gunter Lock's work „2012!“ at the composer's doctoral concert (2014) in EAMT chamber hall. He has played with violin his own works, e.g. „Veelahkmel/At the watercrossroad“ (2003) at EAMT Sügisfestival / Autumn festival, „Pragmaatiline kunstnik/The pragmatic artist“ (2005) as part of the group exhibition by Rait Rosin, Gerhard Lock and Jüri Muttika „Kõik on nii hästi! / Everything is just so perfect!“ in Vaal gallery (2006), „Elu on imeline / Live is miraculous“ (2009) during the 15th Pärnu Film- and Videofestival (commissioned work) and the group exhibition „Performanž“ performance week organized by Rait Rosin in Hobusepea Galerii/Horsehead gallery (2009).

Since 2010 he tightly collaborates with Hiiumaa TantsuFestivaliga / Hiiumaa Dance Festival (HTF), e.g. he played violin in the dance performance “Ball” (HTF2010) by Nele Suisalu and Florent Hamon as well as violin and keyboard instruments in the dance performance “Valge siidiriide, härmatisega...” / “White silk cloth with frost snow” (HTF2012) by Mait Joorits. In the performance “Tahkuna fantaasiad / Fantasies of Tahkuna“ (HTF2011) as outcome of the choreomusical workshops based on his own and Kaspar Aus' ideas he played the piano as well as in the stage processes “Tahan olla / I would like to be” (HTF2014, stage director Jarmo Karing) and “Ma võin ise alustada / I'd like to start myself” (HTF2014, stage director Oksana Tralla).

2011–2013 he played violin in the folk-rock band “Elvin's Tales” and has been performed in several summer festivals as well as the award ceremony of the “Noorte kriitikute luubi all / In Focus of Young Critics” contest (2011) in Tallinn Central Library. Since 2010 he has been performing as improvisor solo or together with colleagues from different art fields interdisciplinarily (violin, piano, synthesizer) at Hiiumaa Dance Festival, during 2013 in different events in Tallinn (e.g. poetry evenings, New World as well as AIDS charity concerts in Kumu art museum). Since 2012 he plays violin also in the performance group “LAIK”, e.g. in the performance “Object MU II” (“Prenataalne meditatsioon” / “Prenatal meditation”, 2013) in Tartu Print museum, also with improvisors colleagues at the Semiosalong seasonal finishing party (Improjam, von Krahl, 2014). In addition he has been sung in several choirs: 2001/2002 in Leipziger Vokalensemble, 2003/2004 in Estonia Seltsi Segakoor (mixed choir) (e.g. Songfestival 2004), since 2014 in mixed choir K.O.O.R. (e.g. Songfestival 2009, Andrea Bocelli gala concert in summer 2014 at the songfestival ground).
