I was born 1978 in Halle/Saale (Germany). In the age of five I started playing violin and got basic musical education at Conservatory „G. F. Händel“ (1983–1993, Halle), than I attended former Music High School (1993–1996, Halle) for violin, piano, music theory (Hubert Moßburger) and composition (Willi Vogl). I studied at University of Music “Franz Liszt” in Weimar (1996–2000, violin – prof. Ute Suckow, music theory – prof. Wolf-Günther Leidel) and musicology at Leipzig University (2000–2002). 2001 I attended Estonian language intensiv course “Studia Baltica”, Bonn (organized by Westfälische Wilhems-Universität Münster in cooperation with Tallinn Pedagogical University, now Tallinn University). Further I studied musicology/music theory (prof. Mart Humal) at Estonian Academy of Music (2002–2004, now Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre). Additional studies took place at Orpheus Institute in Gent (Belgium, International Orpheus Academy 2003, 2005 and 2007). In 2004 I was awarded by Estonian Ministry of Education and Sciences with a first prize for my masters thesis „Musical material and its development in Lepo Sumeras Fifth symphony (1995)“. I was supported by DAAD, Auslands-BaföG and Cultural Endowment of Estonia (EV Kultuurkapital). I held numerous papers in Estonia (Tallinn, Tartu, Pärnu) and other European Countries (Vilnius, Riga, Helsinki, Caserta, Gent, Freiburg, Hannover, Thessaloniki), partly issued in several editions. 2001–2003 I was music criticist by „Leipzig-Almanach“, since 2003 I write for „Teater.Muusika.Kino“, „Muusika“, I contributed also for „Die Musikforschung“ and „MGG“. I have compiled, translated and edited publications on Estonian music (Artur Kapp, Lepo Sumera, Eduard Tubin, Andres Uibo), cooperating with Scripta Musicalia (Tallinn), Eres (Lilienthal/Bremen), Estonian Music Information Center (Tallinn), Estonian Museum of Theatre and Music (Tallinn), Eduard Tubin and Estonian Arnold Schoenberg Society.

Since 2005 I held several lectures at Institute of Fine Arts of Tallinn University, since 2009 I am lecturer for musicology, 2006-2008 I was research fellow at music department of Institute of Fine Arts, I also worked 2006-2008 at Estonian Classical Radio (
Klassikaraadio). My area of research is 20th /21th century and Estonian contemporary music. I am using graphical tools for analysis - since 2006 I am main investigator in Kerri Kottas (PhD) research-grant from Estonian Science Foundation on graphical analysis methods and their applications to the music of 20th century.

Since autumn 2008 I am doctoral student at musicology department of Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre.

Since 2005 I have initiated or was co-organizer of several conferences and symposia: 2005 Lepo-Sumera Symposium (with Merike Vaitmaa), 2005 international conference „Music and Architecture“ during Parnu Days of Contemporary Music (Estonian Arnold Schoenberg Society), 2008 international symposium „Analytical methods of musical modernism“ during Parnu Days of Contemporary Music + InGraafika (Estonian Arnold Schoenberg Society). Recently I am co-organisor of 2nd international conference The Changing Face of Music Education „Music and Environment“. (Music department of Instituts of Arts of Tallinn University).

I have written chamber music, since 2003 I am dealing with electronic sounds, audiovisual and multimedia possibilities, mostly cooperating with painter Rait Rosin. My music is played in Germany
(e.g. Lüneburg 28. Internationale Studienwoche für zeitgenössische Musik 2006) and Estonia (e.g. EAMT Autumn festival, NYYD-festival, August-festival of Kultuuritehas Tallinn).

My interesst as both a scholar and composer are relationships between music and visuality, multimedia (video, painting, text, dance). I try to create music, wich could be used in both concert and non-concert situation, dealing with sound installations, which could be played also in concert. My cooperation partners are both scholars and artist of several fields. My inspiration comes e.g. from philosophy, materials are sound of acoustic instruments, sounds of nature, breathing. I am fascinated in creating sound worlds wich original sources are not recognicable any more.

I am member of Society of Estonian Musicologist , Estonian Composers Union, Estonian Authors Society; Eduard Tubin, Lepo Sumera and Estonian Arnold Schoenberg Society.
