SCHOENBERG RESIDENCY
Pärnu, Estonia

SCHOENBERG RESIDENCY 2026-2027. Call for Applications 31.5.2026

General information
The goal of the international Schoenberg Residency is to mediate specific information about contemporary music that can be exchanged only through international personal contacts between musicians. Schoenberg Residency activities are carried out in close cooperation with Estonian and foreign artists, creative communities and creative centers.

Schoenberg Residency is primarily intended for composers, performers and music researchers. Creative persons of other domains who combine music with other medias are also welcome.

Initiated and run by artists, theoreticians, practitioners and activists themselves, Schoenberg Residency is a user-created platform for anyone who is interested in widening the scope of their creative practices.

There is no formal application for Schoenberg Residency. Just write an email, describing briefly yourself, your field of professional activities (could even be a link to your website) and your plans for residency.

Contact person: Andrus Kallastu, schoenberg@schoenberg.ee

Schoenberg Residency is a completely private initiative, which means that it does not have automatic (public) funding. Schoenberg Society have a small residence room in the Pärnu Artists' House: a bed, a table, a chair, which society pay for at the expense of other projects and which is intended primarily for members for creative work. Since this space is not occupied all the time, it can also offer to other colleagues.

The cost of a residency depends on what the resident actually wants to do:
- writer: you basically sit at a desk in the Schoenberg room and do your work without needing any special technical equipment or assistance. In this case, you can come and be like the members of the Schönberg Society for free.
- performer: you can stay in the Schoenberg room, but you need some special technical equipment and assistance and you are also planning a public performance
- producer: you are planning a more complex project that requires the special technical equipment or assistance and participation of several people. For this, it is possible to rent an additional room from the Pärnu Artists' House for a separate fee (currently the rent is 300 EUR/month). Since it can accommodate up to 2 people, the working group can be up to 3 in total. For even larger projects, it is necessary to rent additional space from other service providers in Pärnu.
